book review number 2: Man's Search For Meaning

mrs gilmore, the method in which i have been forced to utilize in writing this book review does not allow me to use the capitalize button on my keyboard. thus, you will not see a single capital letter on here. thank you. and it turns out that i am unable to use the 'enter' key as well.
the book that i have been reading is titled 'trotzdem ja zum leben sagen. ein psychologe er lebt das konzentrationslager' (Man's Search for Meaning) and written by viktor e. frankle, holocaust survivor.  the book, as you may have concluded, details the experiences of the everyday man inside the barbed fences of auschwitz.  frankle experienced these horrors first hand and the accounts within this book were written within approxmiately one year of his release from the death camps, 1946-1947.  although the reader might expect the book to be more about the terrors of camp life but in actuality, viktor intended the book to be about the psychological aspect of the average prisoner. prior to the war and his entrapment, viktor was a prestigous psycholigist and therapudic doctor.  he took advantage of his time of travail within the fences to study the mental approach taken by each camper he came across, along with himself. the primary message that viktor desired to send to the reader was how one could maintain the will for survival through such hopeless hours, which he hoped could be applied to those who suffer from depression or are experiencing a challenging point within their own lives and so forth. initially viktor intended to remain anonymous in writting and publishing the book for he did not want the reader to acquire the false assumption that his primary goal in writing this book was for wealth and noriety but rather for the reader to recieve a positive outlook on life. .
the book begins with viktor introducing himself and how his journey to the camp began, but he begins to elaborate the emotional truama that had overwhelmed the new inmates.he details the process in which the prisoners were seperated into two groups regarding their appearence of being sutible for manuel labor.those who were unsutible according to the capos were immediately sent to the 'showers' for cleaning and relaxation, although there was nothing relaxing about where they were eaded, the gas chambers. viktor escaped extermination by lieing about his age for he was too young for the guards to allow him to live. initially, the prisoner was terrified, afraid of death, but after a prolonged exposure to theatrocities of camp life and the ever so common sight of your friends and family dieing, a prisoner loses the desire to carry on. in actuality, many inmates desired death over enslavement. some did choose to commit suicide rather than suffer. the human desire to live has deteriorated and the prisoners reverted to mere animals. (Now I am able to use caps and the enter key)

Style: Viktor's style of writing is similar to what you would in scientific report detailing the behavior of animals, although his writing ability proves that he has written books before. He allows the reader to ask their own questions along with proposing quite a few himself. Since this work of literature was translated from its original text so I cannot give you an accurate analysis of his "style". Although some say that the translation tends to be 'dry', I find it suitable for my taste in work. A very serious, in depth analysis of the inner workings of what makes a human 'tick'. I find that the book was quite easy to read since I am not very interested in the fantasy land books of today's teenage youth. I prefer

I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It is considered to be one of the most influential books in American literature. "Named one of the ten most influential books in America by a Library of Congress/Book-of-the-Month Club Survey of Lifetime Readers"

Current Connection Numero 5

I know you're getting tired of reading these current connection thingamabobs about football but I the NFL to be a quite simple topic to write about, for me at least. So let's begin shall we?

The savage vultures that is the media covering the classic quarterback controversies has once again stricken the locker room within the walls of  49er head quarters. The Niners of West Bay are no stranger to quarterback controversies. Towards the end of the 80s, the late Bill Walsh, head coaching great and pioneer of the west coast offense, began to take measures for having a suitable back-up quarterback to the all-time great, Joe Montana, who unfortunately developed a tendency to be injury prone. The Fighting Irish's finest, Golden Joe had already taken a team who once was the perennial door mat of the NFL, excluding the John Brodie and Y.A. Tittle years, to hoist the Lombardi trophy twice in the past 6 years but the team couldn't operate as efficiently without their on field general. Bill Walsh campaigned to find a suitable replacement when the time comes and what he saw was another future hall of famer in Steve Young. Young saw action occasionally during the Montana years as he watched Joe Cool take San Francisco to consecutive Superbowls in 88' and 89', but during the Niners' attempt at the unhearf-of threepeat in 90', Montana injured his throwing elbow on his last episode of 4th quarter heroics in 49ers garb. Thus ending the threepeat and the Montana era in San Francisco. Young took the reigns of the team and Montana left for Kansas City, taking along the 49ers fan base with him. Today, however, we have a similar "good" problem in West Bay.

49ers quarterback Alex Smith, drafter first overall in the 05' draft, was finally clicking in San Francisco under Jim Harbaugh's mentorship. He had taken the Niners (along with the help of a superb defense) to a tight win against the favorite New Orleans Saints. Alex and the Niners went 13-3 that year in a return to excellence after 8 years of misery, making it to the doorstep of the Superbowl only to fall short due to two extremely untimely fumbles on part of special teams. Smith was having a good season and was ranked in the top 5 in quarterback rating. Although his numbers were exceptional, he was still criticized about being unable take over a game like other elite quarterbacks across the league. Everything changed against the St. Louis Rams when Alex was taken out of the game due to a concussion he suffered on a quarterback scramble. Colin Kaepernick stepped in and lead the San Francisco to a rare tie. Alex's chances of starting again seemed un-threatened until the Monday night game against the Chicago Bears. Alex was forced to sit out this game due to failing to be cleared by doctors to play. Colin Kaepernick in his 2nd season in the league was practically a rookie going against the #2 ranked Chicago defense. Chicago was expected to shut down San Francisco's offense but little to their knowledge, Colin was a sleeping lion awaiting to be unleashed upon the league. Colin slaughtered the Bears in a 32-7 rout under the bright lights of Monday Night. Since then Colin has started the past 2 weeks in a victory against the surging Saints at the deafening Mercedes Super Dome and a OT loss against the rising Rams at the Edward Jones Dome.

Jim Harbaugh's decision on starting quarterback was viewed as a stupendous success after Colin continued his stomping of the Saints but controversy arose once again after Colin made some foolish rookie mistakes against the Rams as the game was coming to a close. The 49ers OC called what looked like a triple option toss deep in Niner's territory. Instead of keeping the ball himself, Colin tossed the pigskin to receiver Teddy Ginn Jr. The ball flew about 2 feet out of Ginn's reach and was ruled a fumble since it fell behind the line of scrimage, becoming a lateral pass. Ram's rookie corner Janoris Jenkins recovered the fumble and instinctively scrambled into the endzone, allowing the Rams to tie the game and reach overtime. Colin was able to place the team in the position to win as he drove down the field in OT but he was let down by the struggling kicker, David Akers, who missed the 42 yard kick. The Rams, taking opportunity of great field position, sent out budding star kicker (if their could be a "star" kicker aside from Adam Vinateri) "Legatron" Greg Zuerlion. Zuerlion turned heads as he was able to boot 70+ yard kicks in warm ups which is especially impressive since the NFL record for longest kick is 63 yards, ironically tied by David Akers earlier this season. Zuerlion didn't disappoint with his chance of redemption after he missed the game winner earlier. San Francisco left with a loss to an obviously inferior Rams team. The media clambered around Harbaugh, pelting him with questions of whether Alex should start instead of Colin. Harbaugh, being the mad scientist that his is, again teased the media with the cliche,"going with the hot hand." Earlier this week, Harbaugh decided that Colin still has the "hot hand" and will once again start against the anemic Dolphins. The Niner's defense should be able to easily stomp out any spark from the Dolphin's offense, carrying Colin to another victory. The real decision comes in 2 weeks, when San Francisco travels to the frozen tundra of Foxborough, Massachusetts to challenge the currently 9-3 New England Patriots and super star quarterback, Tom Brady.

The decision of returning to the seasoned veteran or going to the future face of the franchise will continue to be up in the air according to the media until the end of the season. If Colin can take the Niners to where Alex couldn't last year, the Super Bowl, Harbaugh will be praised as a genius and if cannot, Harbaugh will be praised for doing what's best for the future. We're all living in Jim Harbaugh's world and the reporters are just pawns at his whim. They just don't know it and for how this affects me, I'm from the Bay. What goes down in the Bay, goes down in my house. Bye Bye

CURRENT CONNECTION NUMERO QUATRO (4)

Well, I am sorry to disappoint you, but I am going to continue to write current connections relating to sports stories. I find them to be far easier to fabricate than your typical connection, for me at least. Now shall we begin?

The Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3) narrowly edged out the Kansas City Chiefs (1-8) at home Monday in what was seemingly developing into a "trap" game for the Steelers (a trap game is where a far superior team falls to an immensely inferior team due to the former lowering their figurative guns and taking the day off). Although they may have came away with the victory, they may have lost all hopes of winning the division with the Baltimore Ravens lurking around the corner. "Big" Ben Roethlisberger was sandwiched by Justin Houston and Tamba Hali as he was stepping up into the pocket in an attempt to avoid the relentless pass rush of Kansas City. Roethlisberger crumbled to the ground under the weight of both of the 265 pound defenders in what seemed to be just another victory for the Chief's defense, until all of Steeler nation (which I am not a part of nor will I ever be) held their collective breathes as Big Ben made his way to the locker room  clutching his right shoulder and arm. The split-second play jeopardized the game and potentially the season for Pittsburgh, but Byron Leftwich was able to manage the team and lead them to a victory in overtime.

News of Big Ben's injury was thought of only to have been a common shoulder sprain in the quarterback's throwing shoulder until light was shed upon the affliction on Tuesday morning. According to Ben and his medical examiners, the 6'4", 241 pound man under center has suffered an extraordinarily rare rib dislocation, an injury only seen once before in any professional sport which the first being a rugby player in '95. What really makes Steeler fans and NFL fans in general cringe just at the thought of is that the dislodged rib happens to be directed towards his aorta and if pressed upon, could puncture his lung and potentially kill the quarterback. The Steelers have obviously took precautionary measure and has ruled their quarterback out for Sunday night's game against their division rival, the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens have lost a their own fair share of star player this season. Their 13 time Pro Bowl selection Inside lineback, Ray Lewis, tore his pectoral muscle earlier in the season and led some analysts to believe that the all time great may finally hang up the cleats on a phenomenal career. This, however, does not necessarily even the playing field for the two teams. Ray Lewis may have had a far greater career when compared to Roethlisberger but Ben happens to play a far more important position (quarterback > inside linebacker). The Baltimore Ravens should be a clear favorite for their next meeting with the Steelers but if that wasn't bad enough for Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh and Baltimore happen to face off again two weeks after the Sunday night game. If Baltimore can take advantage for the Steelers misfortunes, Baltimore should easily be able to win the division and secure a playoff spot along with a first round bye.

This sole injury may have a lasting effect on every team as the clubs begin to make their annual playoff push this December. The Steelers may make the playoffs but they should provide an easy target for any team they encounter on the road to the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh's shortcomings may leave the door open for any team to perhaps "fluke" their way into championship contention, but only time will tell. The Steelers season rests on the recovery time of Big Ben's ribs and as far as I am concerned, take your time Ben's ribs. We are in no hurry for your return. Love Baltimore.

Current Connection #tres (three for you white folk)

One of the most important events in human history happened to occur approximately 2 weeks ago and for the second time in the past three years! Of course I'm talking about the Champion San Francisco Giants winning the World Series. The World Champion Giants faced elimination 6 times on their road to the World Series and upon reaching the home stretch of their phenomenal post season to ultimately sweep the ALCS Champion Detriot Tigers.
The Giants climbed back from being down 0-2 in the Divisional Series against the Cincinnati Reds and down 1-3 in the Conference Series against the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals. People from every corner of the world counted the Giants out. A team that couldn't lead in the playoffs should not stand a chance against the ALCS Champions who swept their own advisarries, the Yankees.
The Giants backs were to the walls constantly. They kept getting knocked down and yet they got right back up swinging away. A little Rocky Balboa mentality goes a long way. The Giants would go on to capture their 2nd World Series since moving to San Francisco in '58 and along the way, inspiring millions to never give up no matter how impossible the task at hand may seem. I, being a former resisdent of the Bay, was also delighted to witness the Giants steamroll their way over the Tigers.

Current Connection thingamajigger 2

Well the 2012 Presidential Election is creeping up. Who you decide to elect or re-elect is your opinion and I am not here to try to convince you to follow a particular path. But what I am here tonight at approximately 12:51 Eastern Time to talk about 'why' we are voting for whoever. I have heard some particularly intelligent comments through face to face and online posts as of why they would or would not vote for so and so. I have came to notice that some people in this grand world of ours are or are not voting for so and so for all the wrong reasons. They vote not to reflect their own beliefs of Obamacare, the economy, gay rights, etc. I'm really tired goodnight... Zzz

9/11

AMERICA! September 11th, 2001 will go down in infamy in our nation's history. A date that still brings those who have lost loved ones to tears. America has not witnessed such an atrocity, a deliberate act of war against her children since the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Like 70 years ago, we cried for justice to be served. Like 70 years ago, we did not fall, but instead, we stood up. Like 70 years ago, America came out on top. U. S. A.! U. S. A.! U. S. A.! U. S. A.! U. S. A.! U. S. A.! U. S. A.!

1st book review of the year

The novel that I am reading now is The Stand by Stephen King. I know, I know Mrs. Gillmore, I was reading this book last year but, I quit reading it early January and only finished about half of the book. The book is in 3 parts and I have no idea approximately where I quit in the book. So I have decided to merely re-read the book in its entirety rather than mindlessly wander around within the pages. Now back to the book review itself. The style in which Stephen King wrote this book details the stories of multiple characters instead of picking one single person and sticking to them. He usually bounces around from person to person just about every chapter. The prologue begins with a man named Chapion along with his wife and child. Based in some sort of military outpost within America, Champion unknowingly opens Pandora's Box after he was able to defy the lock down fail safe of the base in case of an emergency. Champion contracts a strain of military grade 'super flu' being designed by the government as an agent of biological warfare presumably. Of course the super flu was not intentionally released but that to is unknown. (I was just wondering about that myself since the book gives no correlation of foul play but i suppose that that does not matter now.) The super flu itself consists of a staggering 99.7% mortality rate and since it is the constantly adapting and highly contagious flu, I can assure you that we are in for a fun ride. Chapion contracts the flu to his famliy. They escape in a vehicle and stumble on into a gas station outside of a bustling metropolis. Chapion is already dead so the gas station attendees call for medical assistance. The flu jumps from Chapion to the gas station employees and the medical professionals. They take Chapion's carcass to the hospital and you can add one and one together. King is now focusing in on about 4 different characters, 4 in which I can tell you will be a part of the .3% survivor club. One being a mute-deaf kid who miraculously learned how to read and write. He awoke in an one horse town and inside an Arkansan jail house. Another is a young lady who just broke the news of being preggers to her father. Third being a young man who finds himself locked up in a government experimentation lab and that probably has something to do to his ability to resist the flu. *wink wink* ;) Last but not least, a young man who recently put out a hit single and is living the good life of partying, drugs, alcohol and loose women until he finds out that he has spent himself into debt. That's all for now.

Current Connection thingamabob

As I am quite certain that you have most likely heard of the recent NFL replacement referee fiasco involving the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers from some sort of news outlet. The most recent and cataclysmic fiasco was the result of miniature Hail Mary pass from Seattle's Russell Wilson intended for his 3rd year wide receiver, Golden Tate. The pass was broken up in the left corner of the Packer endzone and subsequently intercepted by M.D. Jennings, one of the many Packers in the vicinity. The play ,one of the worst decisions by the NFL since they allowed the Black Eyed Peas to perform in the Super Bowl (Have you seen that? It was harder to watch than the Colts last year... haha bad football humor), was ruled a simultaneous catch by both Jennings and Tate. NFL rules state that if a simultaneous catch were to occur between an offensive and defensive player, the ball would be awarded to the offense. According to the rules, Golden Tate should have a touchdown, and referees used this rule as an excuse for the horrid display by the men in stripes. There was no simultaneous catch. The pass was clearly picked off by M.D. Jennings, which would have ended the game at 12-7 Green Bay, but instead, consequently handed last year's 15-1 Packer's their second loss of the season in week 3 (Packer's dropped to 1-2). What makes this even worse is that the play was sent into the booth to be reviewed if that the play was or was not a touchdown. The booth confirmed after further examination that there was no credible evidence that the ball was indeed intercepted, although the interception was clear to the millions watching the game from home, including me. Hopefully this embarrassment will bring an end to the current NFL referee lockout and bring forth quality football back into the lives of the sport's loyal fans.

*Side note: I am extremely happy that the referees handed the win to the Seattle Seahawks. I made a bet that they would win the game against the Packers and against all odds. Fortunately for my sake, the poor refereeing handed the game to Seattle and twenty bucks into my pocket, even though I completely thought the play was horrible and that the Packers should have won. But I'm not complaining :).

Dirty Dan's Bucket List...

1. The Stand - Stephen King: This book happens to be one of Stephen King's more memorable and praised works of literature. I began reading it last year but only made it about half way and I lost my place... So I'm starting over. It is a book in that details the the beginning of a pathogenic apocalypse and the rise of a charismatic dark entity who is bent on bringing misery to all who oppose him.

2. It's a Book - Lane Smith: This epic is dictates the struggle that the children of Generation X cannot seem to understand what the devil a book is. The main story revolves around an elephant who is deep into an interesting novel while some numb skull keeps pestering him with a relentless barrage of idiotic questions that only an imbecile could possibly propose.

3. The Dark Tower I - Stephen King: One of Stephen King's many Dark Tower works and is the first of 8 in the set. From what I have heard and read about the series, it possesses many  deeper messages within the texts, some of what people say are biblical messages pertaining to the rise of the anti-christ and so forth.

4. The Dark Tower II - Stephen King:

Jr. & Sr. Years

My junior year was ight. Friends come and go and some turn out to not be your bros. If there's one thing I wish I had more of is time because times running out (school wise of course). Just one year left. Every one of my high school years resides on this one last year. I have made a promise to turn everything around and begin life anew. My senior year will be my legacy in Batesville. Only time will tell if I am able to fulfill this promise, but I can assure only one thing, I'll try my best and my best is pretty dang good.

Call of the Wild review... and what not

Jack London's Call of the Wild is and enjoyable tale about the life of a mix-breed thrown into a chaotic nose dive after being cascaded away from the life of luxury. Our main character, Buck, was once the master of his domain, until he was pluck ed from his kingdom and wisked away to a strange land. Tere he was but a mere peasent in an harsh new reality. He did not understand the laws that presided over this new world but he quickly adapted to his enviorment. Buck rose to the top of his pack nd demanded leadership and was rewarded to the fullest extent. He mastered his new lifestyle until he was sold to a bunch of misfits who wouldn't survive a second in the Alaskan outback. Buck was pushed to the brink of death until he was rescued by his savior, Thorneton. He and Buck established a relationship that Buck never experienced before, love. All was good until thorneton perished. Buck was infuriated and the call of the wild consumed him. Buck became a new member of a wolf pack.

Me and Survival

What is the price of life? There is nothing more valueable that your own life, aside from the lives of others but thats not the point. I would do whatever is necessary to survive when confronted with a life or death situation. I would perform the perilous task of tearing my signature spongebob jammies. Thats a loss no one on earth should ever be forced to experience. I would burn those babies if I had too. Thats a big sacrifice for me.

Anthropomorphism or however you spell that... thingy... its about a cat...

Being The King of my Castle,
I'm always asleep for life is a Hassle.
Even if my peers ideas of me are crass tho.
I do not care for I am a cat, bro.

My peasants appeal to me with affection,
serving and pleasing me with that of perfection.
When enough is enough, I show my objections,
Until they amuse me with their hasty corrections.

The Lord over my Domain,
All the pesky pests are swiftly slain.
When one intrudes over my fearsome reign,
My handy sabers will surely show the pain.

For I am the proud cat,
So pick up the slack
and scratch my back,
or feel the wrath of my kitty attack.

Word.

What is the price of Life?

The responsibility of life is where one is given guidance over another living breathing thing. If something unfortunate were to happen to the lesser being, then the overseer would be held accountable. The member held accountable would face the consequences whether it would be from nature or by law. As for the zeal to survive, when a being is confronted by a life threatening obstacle, every once of ancestral instinct comes in to play and the being attempts every possible method of survival. This will to carry on causes the being to do a variety of abnormal tasks that they would not normally perform such as the severing of a appendage like that in the movie 127 Hours.

El Survivor Synthesis Essay: 127 Hours

Six Word Slant: 127 Hours, Life over a Limb.

Claim: If confronted by a situation where death is inevitable, man's instinct resorts to whatever is necessary, even the untinkable, to survive.

If confronted by a situation where death is inevitable, man's instinct resorts to whatever is necessary to assure survival. Whether the outcome could be bodily harm, loss of loved ones or fatality, even man will revert from his civilized 21st century persona to the primordial neanderthal all in the name of survival.

The will to survive is a very powerful force every living being on this planet possesses and pushes that entity to perform the unthinkable to survive. Aron Ralston has been in this very situation before, where he found himself trapped between a rock and a hard place and was forced to perform an unbelievably arduous task of amputating his right arm to free himself. Aron's chances of survival was minuscule, but his determination and perseverance allowed him to accomplish this mammoth task. Aron fastened a tournequet around his arm to reduce the loss of blood and began sawing away at his arm with some of his safety equiptment. After Aron wandered into a nearby party and arrival at the closest hospital, surgeons discovered that Aron's amputation caused a bone infection that gave him a 50/50 chance of survival. According to Aron Ralston Discusses His Life Since He Amputated His Own Hand, Aron was quoted saying, " ' This is not the life I fought like hell to get out of the canyon to get back to. ' All of his outdoor experiences, all the good times with his friends seemed to be out of reach forever. Ralston remembers one night from the convalescence with a palpable intensity: lying in bed, he saw all the bottles of high-powered pain pills and knew he could end his life." Aron lugubriously struggled to fend off his depression and the fact that life may never return to normal after his incident. Aron resorted to what every other human being would when facing any perilous situation, he turned to his family and friends to find comfort. The presence of love helped Ralston cope with reality and allowed him to slowly begin returning to his daily routines. After every he has been through, Aron now has reacquired his former optimistic outlook on life and is grateful for having his life.

Immediately after his release from the unforgiving rock and the life he knew before, Aron experienced an euphoria of freedom, in which he passed out due to soon afterwards. Aron must have felt like Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) after he had escaped from Shawshank State Prison in the Shawshank Redemption. Aron never felt anything like this and spoke of the feeling as an extraordinarily powerful moment since he had already accepted his fate and acknowledged death as an inevitability. The CUindependent article, (an) Interview with Aron Ralston, addresses that Aron said, " 'It was just the idea of being free,' he said. 'It was the idea of getting back with my family; the idea of who kept me alive all those days. I had accepted my death, so to step out of my grave in that moment was ... extraordinarily powerful.' " A case similar to the story of Buck from The Call of the Wild, where Buck was practically sentenced to death performing the tasks that his inexperienced masters demanded of him. Buck refused to carry on the useless attempts to lead his pack and was in the process of being whipped to death until a benevolent being, Thorneton, intervened and rescued Buck. Buck acquired a renewed sense of love for life and a true companion in Thorneton.

The consequences of a life endangering last resort should be took into consideration and the awareness of these consequences can play a major role with one's last ditch effort for survival. The decision of amputation is no easy one. Jonathan Metz somehow managed to entangle his arm between the heating cores inside a boiler in his basement. As an ABC News article, Man Trapped in Furnace, Amputated Own Arm to Live, illustrates, "Floating in and out of consciousness, and drinking water leaked from the furnace, Metz made a decision that doctors say saved his life: He placed a makeshift tourniquet near his left shoulder and, using the tools he had available, began to cut off his arm." Though his decision was not without repercussions. Three days after his amputation and a single day after surgeons grafter muscle tissue onto his shoulder, Metz smelled the telltale sign of infection, the rotting of his flesh. Again, he removed his dying tissue, a decision that doctors said was his salvation. Metz was later properly treated for infections and later recalls the similarities between his own predicament and Aron Ralston's incident.

Some may say that saying and waiting for help to arrive would have been the proper means of dealing with this kind of situation, but I concurr. If Ralston and Metz were to sit tight and wait out the storm, they would have surely parished because safety officials were unaware of their presence and circumstances. Aron did what he had to do to survive and he succeeded. Metz made the right decision and he survived due to his decision making.

The determination of man (and beast) to survive has proven to be no more prevalent than the stories displayed above. Ralston, Metz, and Buck has shown that nothing exists out of the question when it comes to survival. Life and love stands above appendages, pride, and life's mortal possessions. So I conclude by asking you to do whatever possible to achieve your goals in life, whether those goals are fame (or infamy), fortune or just simply survival.

Frankenstein Summary

Frankenstein is an epic novel displaying the agony and suffering of those that have not experienced a loving touch in their lives. Mary Shelley masterfully weaves together a story that would outlast herself and generations to come. A story depicting a misunderstood innocent corrupted by the hatred that he unfortunately encounters during his brief time on this earth. Frankenstein's monster never knew family, never knew friendship, never knew love. He suffers and thus takes his anguish out upon his master, the man who abandoned him in this cruel and unforgiving world, Frankenstein. The monster tracks down his "father" and assures him that turmoil is only to come if he were to not agree to his terms of creating a companion for the creature, someone who would understand his pain. Frankenstein submits at first, but only to go against his word later. This epic depicts the deadly sin of pride and how this sin can lead to one's ultimate downfall and demise. Frankenstein's pride eventually leads to the untimely deaths of his wife, father and even himself.

The Responsibility of Raising a Full Grown Frankenstein.

If I were given the spectacular abilities of creating a monster out of the remains of various bodies, I would choose not to create anything of the such. Anyone who would want to create an atrocity of such should really get in touch with the consequences. Where would one house this being and what would he eat?
To control a decaying coalition of flesh wandering around your property would be painstaking enough. The monster would need all the responsibilities of a child but amplified. His mindless groaning and careless outlook on your possessions would be enough to drive anyone to the brink of insanity. Why anyone would enjoy harbouring a putrid bag of bones is beyond me.
Not to mention that his diet may possibly include a wide range of bodily organs. What to feed him would be the least of my worries. He may never quit experimenting with the local dogs or try a taste of raw human. You simply cannot find raw human on the market very easily like you used to, so the cost would be horrendous at best.
It may be only my opinion but I would certainly not want to create an atrocity of life like what Dr. Frankenstein accomplished. It is just too much trouble these days to afford to feed and house a grown monster like him. He would live on his own on the streets if I were to creaty such a being, he is old enough to take care of himself.

Pre-Frankenstein

I am eager to read a classical book such as Frankenstein and I am excited about the opportunity I and my fellow classmates have been given. I have not read or seen any of the movies so I am clueless about the setting and characters. All I know is that there is a misunderstood monster who the near-by townsfolk are terrified of.
The age of nineteen seems incredible for one to be able to wright a timeless epic such as Frankenstein. Although I believe that many other teenagers and young adults would be able to construct other master peices if they would strive to acheive greatness. Think of all the wonders that could be imagined if children these days would quit watching Jersey Shore.
Man can indeed create life. Man has come to the point of where he is able to create and recreate living organisms by will (and some scientific assisstance), but does he have the rights to create life. Some argue that man is becoming too powerful and that man is "playing god". That is an arguement based solely upon the reader's personal viewpoint. I have no bais towards this and I do not lean towards or away from either side of the argument.
Yeah, I believe in the sorcerer's stone. I have like 5 of them laying around in my bedroom. They're not that special. No, I don't believe in anything supernatural or any kind of magical stones, this is not Harry Potter.

Patience

Patience fits the year of 2012 because only time will tell what will become of today's world. Today's time is filled with uncertainty about the economy, Iran, North Korea and the 2012 presidential elections. Patience follows hope, which was a very popular word about three years ago. To have hope, you must also have patience.
Though many Americans may have expected an immediate resolution to the economy due the the election of President Barack Obama, patience will be what keeps sanity within the homes of Americans. With the national debt seemingly insurmountable and various news sources giving credit and blame whether they are due or not, many Americans have lost their patience and ultimately given up hope. Hope is what keeps the seems within American society from unraveling. Patience allows hope to keep its positive message within the hearts of Americans. For those who have lost patience in the current leadership of America, hope replants itself during this year's elections and once again patience plays a key role in our society.
Today's situation ,outside the boundries of the United States, has begun to unerve those who have not already been disturbed by the developing stories of the Middle East and the Koreas. Iran continues to pursue its nuclear ambitions while North Korea is becoming increasingly aggressive. Iran has been continuely harassing Israel. Israel has become very worried by the fact of Iran being possibly years within reach of a working nuclear weapon. The U.S. has demanded the relinquishment of Iran's nuclear program although Iran has stood firm in its pursuit. Patience may be the deciding factor between Iran standing down and possibly another war. North Korea's dictator, Il, has recently passed away. While widely considered a wing nut outside the totalitarian walls of North Korea, his replacement may be a sigh of god relief for the world or a gasp of shock and disbelief. The new leader of the struggling country will either be a step in the right direction for Korea or two steps back. Only time will tell and that's where patience plays its part.
